Cheviot Crash Site - 15th Aug
Quite a strenuous walk up The Cheviot via the best way in my opinion; The Hen Hole. The Hen Hole is a series of waterfalls on the west side of Northumberland's highest peak which offers lots of pools to take dip in if you fancy it!
From the summit, we take a bearing over to West Hill (it's a 45 minute hike over peat bogs mind!) to find the wreckage of the B17 Flying Fortress which in crashed in 1944, narrowly missing Braydon Crag. Learn about the story of the plane crash, the rescue, Sheila the sheepdog and one survivors final wish.
Meeting point - 10.00 - Hethpool Car Park, College Valley, Northumberland.
